Annexation goes to vote

The developers of the proposed Barclay Meadows business park along Camp Polk Road want Sisters voters to annex the property into the City of Sisters.

An annexation election will be held in November.

A Deschutes County Hearings Officer is review- ing whether the 35-acre property should be included in the city's Urban Growth Boundary and rezoned for light industrial use.

Investwest developer Jack Rinn and his partners argue that the land will provide industrial land to Sisters and add to the city's tax base.

Opponents have argued that industrial development will create serious traffic congestion at the intersection of Camp Polk Road (Locust Street) and Highway 20.
