Motorists escape serious injury

A collision between a car and a minivan on Highway 20 at the entrance to Suttle Lake Resort snarled traffic on Sunday, September 26, but left those involved unhurt.

The wreck occurred shortly after 5 p.m. and partially blocked both lanes of travel. Traffic backed up to a point about a mile west of the Camp Sherman junction, but police were able to route cars around the wreck on the shoulder.

In an earlier incident, a 22-year-old Bend man and his pregnant 23-year-old passenger escaped serious injury in a single vehicle wreck on the McKenzie Highway (242) west of Sisters on Saturday, September 25.

According to sheriff's office reports, Matthew Wayne McReynolds swerved to avoid a road obstacle and lost control of his 4X4 pickup truck.

The truck slid across the oncoming lane, slid down an embankment about 15 feet and came to rest on the driver's side.

A bystander drove the pair toward Sisters, with the passenger, who is five months pregnant, complaining of stomach pains. A Sisters ambulance and sheriff's deputies met the incoming vehicle and Sisters paramedics transported the woman to St. Charles Medical Center for treatment.
