Sisters man arrested on rape charge

Sheriff's deputies arrested a 23-year-old Sisters man on rape and sex abuse charges for an incident that allegedly occurred on October 7.

According to sheriff's office reports, a 15-year-old girl went to the home of Jason Alan Melton in Sisters, where she allegedly drank beer that Melton had in the house.

The girl told deputies that she did not remember much of what happened, but that she woke up the next morning and believed she had been taken advantage of sexually.

The girl was examined at St. Charles Medical Center.

Deputies questioned Melton, who allegedly admitted having sex with the girl. According to sheriff's office reports, he told deputies that he did not force her to have sex. He blamed alcohol for lowering his inhibitions.

Melton was taken into custody on charges of third-degree rape, Sex Abuse II, Assault IV, contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
