Local resident to lead officer group

Leonard Knott of Sisters was recently installed as president of the Oregon Retired Officers Association at its biennial meeting in Astoria.

Knott recently served as President of the Central Oregon chapter of the group. which maintains chapters throughout the United States. The officers' group lobbies government on benefits for retired and active force members and provides a broad range of services for its retired military members.

Knott heads an organization composed of 4,000 members and their families statewide. Knott retired as a Chief Warrant Officer from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve in 1995.
