News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Outlaws muzzle Bulldogs

The Sisters Outlaws disposed of the Woodburn Bulldogs 46-16 on October 29.

Sisters' varsity unit played in only 27 offensive plays; but that was enough to deal with Woodburn. Sisters' JV unit was sent in to mop up.

Sisters' defense was persistent in rushing Woodburn's quarterback and containing its running game. The Bulldogs rushed for a grand total of minus 2 yards and the Bulldogs' quarterback was sacked 11 times.

Eight Outlaws recorded a sack. Jered Coffield led with three and Jered Wilmont had two. Pressure from the defensive line led to three Shane Crowder interceptions.

Eli Pyke led all tacklers with 11 takedowns.

"We looked extremely fast, and I was very pleased with how our team played as a whole," said head coach Bob Macauley. "Our practice had been very good all week, and I wanted to get some more playing time for some guys."

Sisters put six different players into the end zone.

Dusty Macauley completed 9 of 14 passes for 144 yards. Macauley passed and ran for a touchdown, and was intercepted once. Crowder caught five passes for 97 yards and scored one touchdown.

Josh Orlando led Sisters rushers with 103 yards on six carries and was the only Outlaw to score twice. Orlando became the first rusher this year to rumble for more than 100 yards in one game.

Jered Merrell had 73 yards on nine carries; JV running back J.D. Chatelien rushed for 69 yards on 17 carries to eat up the clock during the second half.

"The offensive line was good," said coach Bob Macauley "Josh and Jered were very impressive."

Eli Pyke, the Outlaws' leading linebacker, also took spot duty on offense as a running back. Pyke took advantage of his opportunity. He took the ball up the middle for what looked to be a short gain, but he broke tackles and scored his first career touchdown.
