Outlaws spike the competition

The Lady Outlaws volleyball team beat a strong Molalla squad 15-3, 15-12 Thursday, October 28, to wrap up its season with a 13-1 record.

The win bodes well for the Outlaws, who launch into state competition on Thursday morning, November 11.

"In game one we came out really strong and ran our offense," coach Brad Bulloch said.

Kirstyn Everson, Krista Gardinier and Jocelyn Evered combined for a total of eight kills in the first frame and the Lady Outlaws were perfect from the service line.

Anna Summerfield, Everson, Gardinier and Elizabeth mount notched up the 100 percent service game for the Outlaws.

"For the night we only missed two serves," Bulloch noted. "We ere 45 for 47 and that helps."

Molalla rocked the Outlaws back on their heels in the second game, going on a quick 6-0 run behind the outstanding play of Sarah Riley.

"Sara McMeekin put up a key block on Riley and that really turned the momentum," Bulloch said.

Elizabeth Mount served eight points in a row for the Lady Outlaws, including a couple of aces. Everson and Gardinier were extremely aggressive at the net and the Outlaws came back to finish Molalla.

"They can set the world on fire when their all going in the same direction," Bulloch said of his team. "That's what we did in game two. They didn't want it to go three."

The victory followed a 15-5, 15-6 win over Woodburn. Before that game the Lady Outlaws paid a visit to the young patients at Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
