News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A burglar allegedly swiped a laptop computer - and nothing else - from Suttle Lake Resort in a break-in on Tuesday night, November 9.
According to Stacy Solie, one of the managing partners of the resort, someone broke in through a kitchen door, apparently with an ax, and made off with the computer and backup discs containing reservation records for the resort.
Solie said that it did not appear that any attempt was made to get into the cash register and no money was taken. Solie said very little cash is kept on the premises.
Solie also noted that no food or beer was taken from the restaurant area of the resort.
The theft of the record-keeping computer alone leads Solie to believe that the burglary may have been targeted toward harming the resort business.
She said that those suspicions are being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Stacy and Larry Solie are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the alleged burglar.
She said the reward offer is designed to "send a message" to the community.
Anyone with information on the break-in may call the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at 541- 475-6520.
