Sheriff's deputies arrested David Elroy Costanzo of Bend on Wednesday, November 17, after he allegedly assaulted and harassed a former live-in girlfriend.
According to sheriff's office reports, a deputy responded to a report of a criminal trespass in progress at a residence on Highway 20 east of Sisters.
Costanzo had allegedly assaulted a woman in Bend. She found his vehicle in her driveway when she returned home and called 911 on her cellular phone. She reportedly lost contact with 911, so she got out of her car and ran to her house to dial again on her home telephone.
Costanzo allegedly entered her home using a key in his possession and harassed the woman, leaving after she told him she had called 911. The victim told a sheriff's deputy that Costanzo had lived with her some time in the past but should not have had a key to her house.
The woman had a noticeable bruise on her forehead, according to sheriff's office reports.
A Bend police officer stopped Costanzo in Tumalo and arrested him for the alleged assault. After interviewing the victim, a sheriff's deputy contacted Costanzo at Deschutes County Jail and placed him under arrest for burglary and harassment.
According to sheriff's office reports, Costanzo at first denied having a key to his victim's house, then, when a key was found in his pocket, he denied his earlier denial.
