The Sisters Outlaws basketball team fell to 0-4 in league play and 3-11 overall, losing to the Cascade Cougars 53-56, on Friday, January 21.
Daniel Dalky from Cascade led all players with 25 points. For Sisters, Jered Coffield had 14 points from the post position and Kyle Kinney tallied 10.
Sisters battled hard to make a contest of the game. Sisters was down by 13 with six minutes left in the game and was able to pull the game to within one point. Cascade pushed its lead to five with a minute left; Sisters hit a three-pointer to close the gap.
Coach Rand Runco called time out with two seconds remaining in the fourth period. The Outlaws fed the ball to Dusty Macauley, but, with 1.8 seconds left, Macauley couldn't get his shot to drop.
Sisters lost another close game on Tuesday, January 18. The Central Panthers pulled out a 60-56 win over the Outlaws. The game was very exciting down the stretch. Sisters found itself down by 11 late in the fourth and clawed back after Kyle Kinney hit a three-pointer to close the gap to a one-point deficit with 18 seconds left.
Sisters forced a turnover with 12 seconds on the clock. Runco devised a plan to get the ball to Macauley for the winning shot. Shane Crowder took the inbound pass and tried to swing it out to Macauley. Central was aware of the play and covered Macauley. Crowder tried to drive to the hoop but his shot didn't fall.
Sisters was forced to foul the Panthers twice to get the clock to stop but Central sank all four of their free throws to put the game out of reach.
