Skiers shine on slopes

Both the boys' and girls' Sisters Outlaws ski teams fought icy conditions and placed third in slalom competition on the Ed's Garden run at Mt. Bachelor on Saturday, January 29.

Nasty run conditions and a power failure on Mount Bachelor didn't keep the boys' team from finishing one of its most impressive races of the year.

Ryan Geser finished the day with a combined time of 1 minute, 40.94 seconds, good enough for a fourth place finish. Scott Schriener posted a 1:48.16 which secured a ninth place finish.

This was the first time in the season that Sisters has placed two racers in the top 10.

"The boys skied really well," said first year coach Melinda Halpern "It is nice to see our boys start to come on."

In the women's race Bend High School girls took first and second place. Sisters' top racer was Stacey Patterson who secured 11th place with a time of 2:01.16.

Molly Johnson was close behind at 13th (2:05.04).
