A man who was badly injured in a wreck on Santiam Pass on February 23, may be in serious trouble with the law.
Oregon State Police troopers found approximately 30 pounds of marijuana in Kevin Francis Oldfield"s wrecked rental Ford Ranger pick-up truck, according to a Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team press release.
Oldfield was flown to St. Charles Medical Center via Air Life, suffering from head trauma.
CODE Team members responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Officers seized the packaged marijuana and $33,671 in cash from the vehicle.
According to CODE, charges of money laundering and drug trafficking will be presented to a Jefferson County grand jury.
An investigation is continuing into the source of the marijuana.
Oldfield"s record shows a Santa Rosa, California, address. The truck was rented in Washington.
The Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team includes officers from Crook, Deschutes and Jefferson counties" law enforcement agencies, Oregon State Police and the Oregon National Guard.
