To the Editor:
I just want to take this opportunity to thank the Sisters School District for their generosity to me. I recently took a trip to a national (vocational) skills competition in Kansas City, Missouri, thanks to them.
Without their contributions I would not have been able to take a trip of a lifetime.
While I was there, I was surrounded by 14,000 other students who are all interested in their futures and are perfecting their skills. I was also able to test my culinary skills against 36 other high school students and realize what an opportunity I have and that I wouldn't have had this chance if it hadn't been for a lot of hard work, support from family and teachers and also from the school.
I know that the school is really stressed financially and that is why I am so grateful for their generosity. Without their support, I wouldn't have the dreams that I have now.
This was a great trip for me and it has been for others in the past. I hope that it will be for others in the future.

My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the wonderful people for their love and support during our ordeal of the past 3-1/2 years (Connie McFarlane died of cancer July 8).
Connie and I had no idea that our decision in 1987 to settle here would be the best thing we or anyone could do. I cannot believe we would have received the amount of kindness nor made so many friends anywhere else in the world.
If I fail to thank each personally, please know it is not intentional.
Central Oregon Hospice, as well as the others, deserve all of the praise I can give. I hope everyone that can will give them the support, both physical and financial, of which you are capable.
They are there as quickly as humanly possible. They stayed with us throughout the final night to be certain Connie was comfortable. We'll never forget that.
May God bless them and all of you.

Rave reviews to Jean Wells and the quilt show.
As a fairly new person to Sisters, I was very impressed by the way things are run and so highly organized. Big deal, so you can't get a parking place for one day, or food and drinks in a hurry, just thank your lucky stars that you have such a great week to one day event in your town.
Quilt Show has put this town on the map. Pray that when Jean runs out of steam, someone else will take over and that will be no easy task, just ask any merchant.
I have never met a nicer group of people from all over the world and none of them complained about anything but the bathrooms.
