A Deschutes County Sheriff's Deputy arrested a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old in connection with vandalism in the Tollgate subdivision last week.
The arresting deputy said he was given information that led to the identification of the two suspects. The 17-year-old reportedly admitted to committing some but not all of the damage.
The deputy arrested the pair on a charge of second degree criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.
The 17-year-old's case will be handled through juvenile corrections.
Tollgate and the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office had offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case, but the arresting deputy said the reward was not a factor in identifying the suspects.
"People know what's right and what's wrong," the deputy said.
The deputy said the Tollgate vandalism was unrelated to vandalism that occurred early Saturday morning, October 14. In that incident, someone took fire extinguishers from school buses, sprayed a van at The Nugget office and a porch at another business.
The vandals also broke some light fixtures. Someone also cut open bags of merchandise left outside at another business.
