Land value tied to zoning

The current site of Sisters Middle School is under Public Facility (PF) zoning.

Sisters School Board members estimate that the approximately 3.5-acre parcel would be worth up to $1.5 million under General Commercial (CG) zoning. The board would have to seek a zone change to get CG zoning.

The board agreed last week to sell the property if voters approve a bond to build a new high school and move middle school students to the current high school.

The majority of proceeds from the sale would be used to pay down the bond.
