Art Stroll scheduled for Friday, May 11

Sisters artists will show their wares at locations all over town on Friday, May 11, during the ninth annual Sisters Art Stroll.

This traditional kick-off for the summer season takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. at 25 locations.

Arts and crafts ranging from print making to water colors to pottery and jewelry will be featured at the participating businesses.

Some unique exhibits include Daniela Mahoney's hand-engraved eggshell ornaments -- created with a dental drill.

At Destination Wilderness, Abraham Hurt will display Native American art, including sand painting.

A physical art form -- Belly Dancing -- will be on display at Ear Expressions where the Gypsy Sisters dance troupe will perform at intervals throughout the evening.

Sisters Elementary School will host a student art show.

At Bedouin, Carolyn Platt and Deb Sether will paint chairs and show finished work done in the styles of famous masters like Matisse and Picasso.

Most of the businesses will serve refreshments.

Several of the stops on the stroll will feature live music.

Paulina Springs Book Company will host a 7 p.m. jam session in conjunction with a showing by Kathy Deggendorfer. Epicure Exchange offers music along with the photography of Patrick Faughnan. Ben Scharf will play jazz piano at his father's Cliff Scharf Gallery and Sierra Scherrer performs on the fiddle at The Gallimaufry.

Sisters students will play harp music at The Candle House, which features the work of Wendy Kelleher.

The annual event is sponsored by the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, which will hold a prize drawing for three $100 gift certificates.
