News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Kiwanis Club's 2001 golf tournament held June 23 raised over $20,000, according to event organizers.
The tournament, jointly sponsored by Sisters Ray's Food Place Foundation and the Sisters Kiwanis Community Services Foundation brought a record 200 golfers to the Aspen Lakes Golf Course.
The proceeds from this event are to be shared by the Doernbacher Children's Hospital of Portland, the Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation (SOAR) and other programs benefiting Sisters children.
In the past six years, the fund-raiser has contributed more than of $88,000 to Sisters children.
This year, players came from as far away as the Oregon Coast and Washington State. Winning were: Portland Brewing -- first place; Williams Bakery -- second; Bob Johnson -- third; Metabolic Maintenance -- fourth; and Everson/Ebner -- fifth place.
All participants were given an open invitation to return to Sisters for the August 16-18 Second Annual Sisters Kiwanis Million Dollar Hole In One Shootout to be held at the Aspen Lakes Golf Course.
Proceeds from that event are earmarked for the new multi-use ball field complex to be constructed adjacent to the new Sisters High School.
