Kiwanis hosts hole-in-one tourney

Last year, 291 golfers hit over 7,000 balls searching for a winner.

The Kiwanis Club of Sisters is inviting Central Oregon golfers to try their luck at the second annual Million Dollar Hole-in-One Shootout to be held on August 17, 18, and 19 at Aspen Lakes Golf Course.

Qualification shots take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on August 17 and 18 and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 19. Semi-finals begin at 5 p.m.

Starting at 7 p.m. on August 19, 10 finalists will have the opportunity at five separate holes to win the $1 million prize, a new Honda Insight SUV, a new Jeep Liberty SUV, a new 31 foot Holiday Rambler Trailer, or a $7,000 cash prize.

Participants may also receive a number of other prizes.

Aspen Lakes is located four miles northeast of Sisters on Highway 126.

Anyone 18 and older, with the exception of professional golfers, can compete and shoot as many golf balls as they wish. Golf balls are $1 each or 25 for $20 and contributions are tax deductible.

All proceeds from the event will be used to construct a ball field complex for the Sisters community.

Should a golfer win the $1 million prize, the money will be divided 75 percent to the winner and 25 percent to Sisters Kiwanis for the ball field project.

Kiwanis Community Service Foundation has raised $316,200 in cash and in-kind contributions.

The project is expected to require funding from $500-$550,000.
