News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters will be filled with unique art and homegrown music on Friday, March 1, during the Painted Strings art stroll.
The Sisters Folk Festival and the Americana Project, a music education project of the Sisters School District, purchased 24 old acoustic guitars. Artists and Sisters High School Art students have transformed them into art.
Between 3 and 5:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, the guitars will be showcased throughout the retail center of Sisters. Many of the locations will feature live music.
The guitar art pieces will be auctioned on March 9 at Soda Creek Gallery, 178 S. Elm Street, in Sisters.
Proceeds will benefit the Americana Project. Brochures listing locations for the various art pieces are available at Sisters retailers and at the Chamber of Commerce.
