News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Sisters Sheriff's calls

  • A woman reported finding an aerial salesman with his ear to her door when she opened it. She found this odd.

  • A man turned in a box of tools another man had mislaid while moving.

  • Deputies cited a Sisters man for making an unsafe pass. It was kind of obvious, since the man had lost control of his vehicle and rolled it while making the pass.

  • Another driver rolled his vehicle on icy roads. His pregnant wife (two months) was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

  • A Tollgate driver turned her vehicle over at Lariat and Lariat.

  • And yet another driver rolled his vehicle after a tire blowout. He was cited for driving without a valid license.

  • A woman reported a man headed toward her property after she had previously warned him off. Deputies contacted a relative of the man, who said doctors claim the man has a gland problem. Oh, and he drinks, too.

  • A driver hit the wood fence at Sisters Middle School. He apparently tried to put it back together as best he could, but one piece is broken.

  • A black lab was taken into custody. The dog allegedly committed fowl-icide on two hens and a rooster. Bad dog.

  • A driver swerved to avoid a vehicle that spun out in front of him. So much for good intentions. The driver's rig spun out and he hit a tree going backwards. The driver wasn't hurt, but the car was.

  • A possibly suicidal woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation after she took a heavy dose of medication, drove over a mailbox and got stuck.

  • Deputies contacted two hitchhikers who were reportedly making obscene gestures at passing motorists. The hitchhikers allowed as how they were a little frustrated after spending the night stuck in the snow and they weren't happy that they couldn't get anyone to stop for them.

  • A drunk man called to report that his girlfriend had left their motel room an hour before and hadn't returned. She showed up while deputies were there. She said she'd gone out for a bite to eat and just to get away for awhile. Wonder why...

  • Some Sisters Middle School students were suspected of drinking alcohol during a ski trip (see related story).

  • Somebody poached a cow near Sisters Rodeo grounds.
