Sisters enjoys picture-book Easter

Sisters was graced with picture-perfect spring weather for Easter celebrations last Sunday.

"That's probably the best Easter we've had, in terms of weather. It was great," said Stephen Fisher, organizer of the Sisters-Camp Sherman rural Fire Protection Distrtict's annual Easter egg hunt.

According to Fisher's estimates, some 400 children participated in the Sunday afternoon egg hunt, competing for 8,000 eggs that lay hidden around Creekside City Park and Sisters Overnight Park.

The egg hunt is a huge undertaking for the volunteer fire department. About 20 people participated in cooking the thousands of eggs and getting them hidden.

Fisher said 1,000 eggs were lost to breakage during the boiling process. Then the volunteers had to work around two response calls on Easter morning.

As hectic as it was, the event went off without a hitch.

Children were thrilled to meet the Easter Bunny, who goes by the alias of Spurge Cochran 364 days a year.

Local church services were packed with worshippers, reflecting in an atmosphere of peace and beauty in the troubled world, particularly in the Middle East.
