Drunk driver starts brush fire near Sisters

A Sisters man was arrested for drunk driving last week after he allegedly got his truck stuck on a forest road south of town and inadvertently started a small brush fire.

According to sheriff's office reports, the man was driving on a forest road about 1/3 mile east of Three Creek Road when he got his 1987 Ford 4x4 pickup truck stuck.

The truck reportedly backfired, causing a fire that consumed the truck and burned 75 feet of surrounding brush.

A fire crew quickly doused the blaze, but the man's truck was completely destroyed.

The man is reportedly a diabetic who takes insulin and is not supposed to be drinking.

According to sheriff's office reports, the man registered a blood-alcohol count of .27 percent after his arrest.
