College students enjoy best of two worlds

Sisters High School graduates Tiffany Adams and Beth Golden are enjoying a summer home from college at Camp Sherman.

Interviewed poolside at Camp Sherman's Metolius Meadows, the two coeds discussed their lives since leaving high school.

Adams attends Seattle Pacific University majoring in psychology in her sophomore year. During the school year she does counseling work at the King County Juvenile Detention Center in Seattle.

"I have the best of both worlds," she said. "Living in beautiful Seattle during the school year and coming home to Camp Sherman for country living in the summer."

She works at the Sisters Athletic Club.

Beth Golden attends Western Oregon University majoring in elementary education. She completes her program next March and hopes to teach overseas in a Department of Defense program.

"My father was in the military and we lived in Germany. That's my interest in teaching in a foreign country," said Golden.

Golden works in Sisters at The Harvest Basket market.

Both students expressed positive memories of how Sisters High School prepared them for college life.

"The teachers and small class sizes were very beneficial and a good experience," Golden said.

According to Adams, "The advanced classes were a challenge and good preparation for college work."

Down the road, Tiffany plans a graduate degree leading to work in criminal psychology.

"It's a way off but after my Master's degree that's what I hope to do."
