Girls soccer team falls to Madras

The Lady Outlaws lost to Madras 3-1 in a non-league soccer game on Wednesday, September 11.

Sisters jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the match. Krista Pagano had a hard shot at the goal.

The Madras goalie was there for the save but was unable to hang onto the ball.

Kelly Fitzjarrell was waiting at the corner of the goal box and kicked the ball in to score for Sisters.

Thirty minutes into the game, Pagano drilled a 30 yard shot into the corner of the net.

"It was an indirect free kick and since no hands touched the ball, the goal couldn't be counted," Coach Lee Bellahdid said.

Madras tied up the game 1-1 with less than five minutes to play in the first half.

In the second half, stopper Amanda McNerney was injured and had to be taken out of the game.

"With Amanda out of the game it made a hole in our defense," Bellahdid said. "We didn't mark up on (Madras forward Tosha Wilson) and it cost us two goals."

Madras beat the Outlaws 3-1.

"Emily Clasen played exceptionally well," Coach Bellahid said. "She blocked their left forward and consistently beat her to the ball. Whitney Engstrom also played hard. She saved a lot of balls."
