Sisters girls shine at gymnastics tourney

Tani Chick and Annie Mutchler of Sisters placed first and second in a regional gymnastics tourney held in Bend on Saturday, October 5.

Chick, 11, took top honors in the junior age division in the eight-team tournament, turning in a 35.5 overall score.

"That's an extremely high score," said Coach Lexy Reinholt. "We're very, very proud of Tani."

Mutchler, 10, was close behind, with a 35.4 score.

According to Coach Reinholt, to have two scores in that range is exceptional.

Chick and Mutchler were among 78 competitors in the Acrovision Sports Center tournament. Each gymnast performed on the balance beam, a floor exercise, parallel bars and vault.

Chick had remarkable scores of 9.4 in the floor exercise and 9.2 on the bars.

Reinholt said Chick is a pleasure to coach.

"It's an honor to work with her every day that she comes into the gym," the coach said.
