Sisters holiday parade date changed

The Sisters Christmas Parade has been moved back to its traditional date on Saturday, November 30, at 2 p.m. on Hood Avenue.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be in the parade and will greet children immediately afterwards at the Chamber of Commerce Visitors' Center, 164 N. Elm St., where there will be a bonfire and refreshments.

Applications to participate in the parade are available at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce offices. Call 549-0251.

The parade had originally been scheduled for December 14, to coincide with the Tiny Lights Craft Show to be held at Sisters Elementary School.

The craft show has been canceled.

According to chamber volunteer Jeri Buckmann, "There was a scheduling conflict with the elementary school. There is a basketball tournament."

A Gallery Walk among Sisters' art galleries remains scheduled for Saturday, December 14. Gallery owners had scheduled the event to coincide with the parade and craft show and were left hanging by the schedule change.

Buckmann said the Chamber of Commerce is doing its best to promote the Gallery Walk in its press releases and "we're promoting it here in the chamber," she said.

Buckmann volunteered to help organize the parade in the midst of turmoil and turnover at the chamber.
