Sisters pair receive advertising awards

The AdFederation of Central Oregon presented awards of merit and excellence to Sisters artist Dennis McGregor and book publisher David Banks at the Drake Awards dinner and ceremony Saturday, March 15, at Sunriver.

Dennis McGregor won an award of excellence for advertising art for the 2002 "Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show poster" created for the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

He also garnered awards of merit for the "Sisters Folk Festival poster" created for the 2002 Sisters Folk Festival and for the "Sisters Bicycle Festival poster," painted for last summer's inaugural Sisters Bicycle Festival.

Banks received an award of merit for the cover of "Seasons Of The Metolius" a book he published earlier this year.

The cover was co-designed by Pete Chadwell of Bend who designs and illustrates all No Nonsense Fly Fishing Guidebooks.

The book cover features artwork showing a fly angler fishing on the Metolius River.

It is from the painting "Late For Dinner" by Sisters artist and gallery owner Dan Rickards. The book's author is Camp Sherman fly fishing guide John Judy.

There were 307 entries in the competition. The winning art and book cover are among 122 that are being forwarded to the larger Northwest Addy competition to be held later this year.
