Sisters Folk Festival tickets on sale

All-events badges are available at an early discount for the Sisters Folk Festival.

The Sisters Folk Festival, scheduled for September 5-7, 2003 carries on the traditions of American roots music, from blues to bluegrass.

All-events badges for the three-day festival are $50 if purchased before August 1 ($60 August 1 and after).

This year's festival features legendary singer-songwriter and musician Chris Hillman performing in a duo with Herb Pederson.

Hillman and Pederson, who fronted the country music supergroup The Desert Rose Band, blend folk, country and bluegrass into a unique slice of Americana.

Hillman is a pioneer of the Americana music that the Sisters Folk Festival presents. He was a founding member of The Byrds and of the seminal country-rock group The Flying Burrito Brothers.

Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group return to the festival with their expert harmonies, fine songwriting and top-notch musicianship. Favorite regulars on "A Prairie Home Companion," Robin and Linda Williams "have since 1975 been turning out some of this country's best not-made-for-radio country music." (Plan Nine Records).

The acclaimed bluegrass band Blue Highway will be a highlight of this year's show. The Northern California Bluegrass Association notes that "Blue Highway has become one of the top bands in bluegrass and the instrumental and song writing skills of its members have blended new and traditional into an exciting and forward looking sound."

The festival also includes performances by blues mainstay Del Rey, the rousing, Celtic-influenced band The Paperboys and a range of other national, regional and local artists.

The Sisters Folk Festival is in its eighth season of bringing nationally-recognized folk and Americana acts to Sisters.

The festival also offers a songwriting contest and academy and sponsors the Americana Project in Sisters schools.

Main performances will be held in a tent on Sisters' Village Green. Musicians will also entertain in other venues throughout town and food and craft vendors will be on hand to peddle their wares in an open-air market setting.

Individual performance tickets will be on sale after August 1. Tickets may be purchased online at www.sistersfolkfestival.com or over the phone at (541) 549-4979.
