There are plenty of things Jeff Holland likes about his job as the on-site manager at Storage Sisters of Sisters.

He loves Sisters and is happy to have work that keeps him here. He likes working with both his employers and his clients.

"I love it here," he said. "If someone has a situation where they need to get in at other times (than regular hours), if they give a call I can let them in.

"It's just better customer service and better security," he said.

And you just can't beat the easy commute.

Holland lives right next door to his office.

"If I happen to get up a little late in the morning, it doesn't take me long to get to work."

Storage Station has 188 units and parking for 11 RVs so far, though Holland says "we've got room for many more."

Units range from five-by-five feet to 12-by-30 feet, with drive-up access. There are climate-controlled units good for storing electronics, art and antiques.

It might seem that managing a storage facility would be pretty easy work -- after all, the units just sit there and store things.

But Holland is constantly busy making improvements.

"There's a lot of work that needs to be done to make the place what it should be," he said.

"I'm a hands-on guy, so instead of hiring somebody to do it, I do it myself."

Holland has lived in Sisters for the past decade, though his family has been visiting the Sisters area since about 1972.

"There's not many places I'd rather live," he said.

Owners John and Vicki Hornbeck make the job a good one, too.

Holland described them as "very caring people," who are a pleasure to work for.

Storage Station of Sisters is located at 581 N. Larch St.
