Working under a blazing Central Oregon sun, Sisters Community Trails Committee members Bill Willitts, Dave Marlow and Jim Yuskavitch, along with Kris Calvin of Earthwood Homes of Oregon, installed the first two of four informational trail kiosks on Monday evening, July 28.

One kiosk was erected at Sisters Elementary School and the other in the Village Green Park.

The kiosks are part of the Sisters Community Trails system, developed by a group of area volunteers to create a network of non-motorized commuter and recreational trails within the greater Sisters area that will connect neighborhoods, schools, the City of Sisters and surrounding public lands.

The trail system was designed after considerable public input.

Interpretive artwork by local artist Dennis McGregor and a trails map will be added later this summer.

The other two kiosks are expected to be installed by next spring.

Calvin, a timber-framing specialist, helped build the kiosks and provided expertise, tools and a forklift for the installations.
