News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
If the consumption of marionberry cobbler is any gauge, the eighth annual Country Fair held at Sisters Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration must be considered a smashing success.
The cobbler -- always an enticement at the fair --ran out just a little after 1 p.m., testament to a large and enthusiastic turnout.
Fair-goers basked in nearly perfect summer conditions; the shade on the church grounds making a nice refuge from the hot summer sun.
Children worked themselves red in the face jumping in the popular bouncy castle and they enjoyed petting the animals at the petting zoo and clopping across the church grounds in a cart drawn by a beautiful Clydesdale.
Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District volunteers staged a puppet show at intervals from the back of a fire truck and children and adults both joined in on a series of cake walks.
Local musicians entertained the crowd as they looked over antiques and White Elephant table gifts, purchased homemade Gourmet Garnishes and ventured into the church to view the art show (see related story).
Proceeds from the fair are used in the church's community outreach programs.
