Yve Evans, one of the all-time favorite musicians at the Sisters Jazz Festival, will return to the festival's stages this September but with her own band rather than as a vocalist with another group.

The quintet, Yve Evans and Company, will appear at all four main venues during the September 12-14 jazz festival. The group will entertain also at the festival's Sponsor Party Wednesday evening, September 10.

Previously at the Sisters Jazz Festival Evans has been the vocalist with Chicago Six, and has displayed her vocal and piano talents at Sunday gospel sets and special performances.

Blues, jazz, gospel all are part of Evans' piano and vocal virtuosity and she has performed with some of the best-known singers and pianists, including Sarah Vaughn, Joe Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, Della Reese, Rosemary Clooney, Mahalia Jackson and Erroll Garner.

Yve Evans and Company has been described as a group that at every performance "shows a dedication to the tradition and understanding of jazz and its timeless repertoire with the intent of sharing the sheer joy and freedom that the music brings to the audience."

In addition to their leader, Yve Evans and Company features Bradley Bobo, bass; Larry Washington, drums; Tony Drake, guitar, and Andrew Carney, trumpet and flugel horn.

Yve Evans and Company will combine with Chicago Six for one the jazz festival's free Sunday gospel programs on September 14.

Sisters Jazz Festival tickets may be ordered on the festival's hotline, 549-1332, at Paulina Springs Book Company or the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, and online at www.sistersjazzfestival.com.
