Sisters sheriff's calls

  • A local resident reported that two men in a red truck appeared to be road hunting along Wilt Road.

A deputy ran the license plate number and it came back flagged as a stolen vehicle.

A deputy tried to locate the vehicle, traveling Wilt Road to Jefferson County. Passing motorists told the deputy the truck was consistently 10 minutes ahead, traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy notified Jefferson County law enforcement, but was never able to track down the vehicle.

  • One teenager allegedly threatened to shoot another at a Sisters Middle School game. In a separate but possibly related incident, a teenager told another that someone planned to kill him. The incidents are under investigation.

He lost a substantial amount of cash, credit cards and his English driver's license. There was no word as to which side of the road he may have lost the wallet on.

  • A man reported that someone made $1,442.76 worth of unauthorized purchases on his debit card.
  • A local person reported a suspicious car driving by as though the driver was casing a particular residence. This was particularly interesting, since the owner of that residence had previously suffered a burglary at his Portland home.

  • A golf cart was taken from a course. It was later found by Ranch employees on a Forest Service road. An interesting choice of off-road vehicles.
  • An officer responded to a report of three men gathered around a road-killed deer. The officer found the men getting set to take possession of the deer. After the officer explained that this is illegal, the men decided to pass up their free meal.
  • An officer stopped a man for having defective taillights. The man failed to produce his driver's license -- and also allegedly had cocaine in his possession. He went to jail.

So did his passenger, who had a misdemeanor warrant out on her from Linn County.
