Sisters defeated Stayton 20-14 at the Outlaws' homecoming football game on Friday, October 3.

The offensive line led the way to the Outlaws win.

"Nathan Teeny, Matt Hodge, Derrek Ramsey, Brian Jimmerson and Connor Burke really controlled the ball and the time of possession to allow us to do what we did," said Coach Bob Macauley.

Tyler McMeekin opened the scoring in the second quarter on a 16-yard touchdown run. Alan Dale chipped in the extra point to give the Outlaws a 7-0 lead.

Stayton came back and scored a touchdown of their own, narrowing Sisters' lead to 7-6. Neither team scored the remainder of the first half.

Colin Davies started off the second half with a 22-yard reception and four plays later McMeekin scored from two yards out.

Sisters held a 13-6 lead until the fourth quarter. With just six minutes remaining in the game, Stayton scored on a big play and took a 14-13 lead.

"The best thing about our team at that point," said Macauley, "was that our guys came off the field and didn't panic or point fingers. There was a level of maturity there and they had the attitude, 'We've got to get the ball and go.'"

Sisters took possession and ran five minutes off the clock on a 70-yard drive. Adam Summerfield completed four of four passes for a total of 54 yards. Colin Davies caught a 16-yard pass on a third down to keep the drive alive. Jawan Davis caught two passes for 30 yards and Jhet Schafer caught a pass for nine yards.

With four yards to go on the third down, Summerfield ran an option into the end zone to score, pushing the Outlaws into the lead at 19-14. Dale kicked for the extra point to give the Outlaws 20.

Colin Davies had three critical receptions for 55 yards in the game.

"All three of his receptions were on third downs and were huge plays," said Macauley. "They were all very athletic receptions that weren't easy to catch. Each of the receptions kept the ball alive and in our possession and allowed the drive to continue. If he would have missed we would have been forced to punt."

The defense did their share in contributing to the win.

"Our defense was just outstanding," said Macauley.

Chris Wimer had 11 tackles on defense. Scott Kramer had eight tackles and blocked an extra point. Eric King recovered the ball on a fumble and Jacob Crowder notched eight tackles.

"It was a great effort," said Macauley. "The guys really controlled Stayton's offense.

"It was a breakthrough game for us. We're really coming together as a team. We're trusting each other and doing our assignments."

The Outlaws are 1-0 in league and 5-0 overall. Third-ranked Sisters will play seventh-ranked Molalla on Thursday, October 9, at Molalla.
