Ski area to host school fund-raiser

Students, parents and community members can ski for a day and contribute to the school district at the same time.

Hoodoo Ski Area will host a Sisters Schools Community Day on Friday, March 19. Hoodoo will donate 50 percent of qualified lift ticket proceeds to the Sisters School Foundation.

To qualify, skiers must present a Sisters Schools Community Day coupon at time of ticket purchase. Those coupons may be found in students' take-home notices or at the front offices of Sisters schools and the Sisters School District office.

Downhill skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing and tubing on the new 800-foot Autobahn tubing hill are all included.

Ski lifts are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Autobahn tubing hill is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The program is designed to raise money for Sisters schools in light of the tightening funding environment while providing a family-oriented fun event for the extended Sisters schools community.

According to organizers, Hoodoo is likely to run its shuttle bus to/from the event at a special discounted rate if demand warrants (departing Mountain Supply in Sisters at 8:30 a.m., departing Hoodoo at 4 p.m.). for more information e-mail event coordinator Rob Corrigan at [email protected]
