"The Central Oregon Arson Task Force has always depended on the public for information to assist us in investigating fires and identifying witnesses and/or potential suspects.
"This ... has been critical to our past success and we greatly appreciate (the) assistance," stated Randy Wight, Central Oregon Arson Task Force Coordinator.
Central Oregon has already experienced more than 17 fires by early May, all human-caused, totaling over 200 acres.
"Dry weather and windy conditions have created a potentially hazardous early fire season," stated Wight.
People can be held financially liable for damages, should their campfire or debris fire escape and become a wildfire.
