Leslie's Ice Cream Parlor opens in Sisters

Leslie's Ice Cream Parlor has a little something for everyone -- locals and visitors alike.

The new family business located in the historic Palace building on the corner of Elm Street and Cascade Avenue is a coffee house in the morning -- offering Royal Blend Coffee, DiLusso's Baked goods and specialty chocolate-covered Belgian waffles.

Then, as the sun rises high in the sky, Leslie's is an ice cream parlor, offering a wide selection of cones and a 20-topping, do-it-yourself sundae bar.

Owners Leslie Newbold and Michael Valoppi don't stint on the size of their cones, either.

Valoppi said the parlor's motto is, "No matter how old or how big you are, your ice cream cone should look like it did when you were six."

The pair have created a welcoming atmosphere that encourages folks to linger over their treats.

It's a mixture of styles that covers Sisters' eclectic nature.

"We want to do a sort of French café meets the Old West kind of feel," Newbold said.

As part of the welcoming atmosphere, Leslie's Ice Cream Parlor offers extended hours: Friday and Saturday they're open till 7 p.m.; the rest of the week until 6 p.m.

With four children in local schools, the owners are creating a family business that they hope will become a favorite place for Sisters folks as well as a destination for visitors looking for that big, delicious ice cream cone.
