News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Country Fair organizers expect this year's Art Show portion of the fair to be the biggest and best ever.
The Country Fair at Sisters Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration is set for Saturday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
The jurors for this year's event are two well-known Central Oregon artists: Karen Piedmont and Norma Holmes. Piedmont exhibits at the Tumalo Creek Gallery and specializes in large format landscapes and portraits in watercolor. She was this year's signature artist for the Deschutes Children's Foundation Art & Wine Auction.
Holmes exhibits originals at the Mockingbird Gallery in Bend and the Edmund Craig Gallery in Ft. Worth, Texas. Reproductions can be found at the Clearwater Gallery in Sisters. She has worked in watercolors and oils but prefers painting with pastels.
Both artists have received numerous awards for their work.
The Art Show welcomes submissions in the following categories: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, photography, metal, glass, wood, paper, jewelry, textiles, fiber, collage, print making and computer graphics.
The art work for this juried show should be delivered to the Sisters Episcopal Church at 68825 Brooks Camp Road, Sisters, on either August 7 or August 9 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. There is an entry fee.
A gala pre-sale party will be held the evening before the fair on Friday, August 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome.
