New voter registration may be needed

If your street name or street address was changed recently, you probably need to reregister with the Deschutes County Clerk's Office by October 12 if you wish to vote in the November election.

That is the advice of a spokesperson from the Elections Division of the County Clerk's Office.

Unless you have received a new voter registration card with your new address on it, you should plan to reregister, the spokesperson advised.

Changes for a number of street names and street addresses were approved by Deschutes County Commissioners earlier this year to assist emergency service agencies in finding specific locations in rural areas.

Within the Sisters area, some addresses in Crossroads, Tollgate and other local communities were changed.

Voters may reregister by using the form provided on page 78 of the current Qwest telephone directory, by going on the county's web site at www.co.deschutes.or.us and clicking on "Elections and Voting," or by visiting the Elections Division office at 1300 N.W. Wall St. in Bend.

For more information contact the Elections Division Office at (541) 388-6546.
