News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Princesses and pirates parade.photo by Jim Cornelius There were dozens of Spidermen, a kingdom-full of princesses, a shipload of pirates and hordes of scary creatures on the streets of Sisters last weekend as local children celebrated Halloween.
The annual Sisters Rotary-Sisters Library-sponsored Halloween Parade drew a record crowd, with hundreds of children and their parents packing the Village Green assembly site before dispersing across town to loot merchants of their treats.
The weather cooperated; it was cold but it didn't rain, snow or blow.
The Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District volunteers hosted their annual haunted house and party at the Fire Hall on Sunday, October 31.
"It was another pumpkin-smashing success," said fire district administrator Susan Houck. She reported that 300 kids and 100 parents attended the festivities.
The celebration includes a trip through an elaborate haunted house as well as games and treats.
The fire hall has hosted the event for the past nine years, Houck said.
