Sisters agencies to set priorities at summit

Sisters High School will host the first of several "summit" meetings of Sisters community agencies on January 29.

The meetings will allow the agencies to exchange information and discuss projects and priorities of mutual interest.

Although the public is invited to attend, only board members of the agencies involved will be allowed to participate.

Participants in the summit include the Community Action Team of Sisters, the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce, Sisters City Council, Sisters Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District, Sisters Ranger District, Habitat for Humanity, Sisters School District and SOAR.

City Manager Eileen Stein has put together an agenda that includes a planning overview by City of Sisters Planning Department followed by 10-minute presentations by each of the organizations involved.

Stein is asking the presentations to include goals and visioning for a three-to five-year period.

Stein says this initial session is aimed at information sharing. She seeks to answer the question, "Are we all on the same page as a community?"

In the past, different community groups have worked at cross purposes or duplicated efforts.

The afternoon session will allow time for questions and clarification of information presented in the morning.

Discussion will include opportunities for collaboration, coordination, and partnerships and will address the issues of threats, concerns, and redundancies.

The summit will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sisters High School Lecture Room.

For more information, contact Eileen Stein, City Manager, at 549-6022, Extension 1, at City Hall, 150 N. Fir Street, or by e-mail at [email protected]
