Faludi family dedicates their new home

It wasn’t quite Valentine’s Day but the Faludi family received a huge valentine last Sunday.

The family dedicated their newly purchased Sisters Habitat for Humanity home (the 31st for Sisters).

More than 60 people braved a cold wind under clear skies to help the family celebrate their new home.

When the previous owner moved out of the area, Habitat decided to buy the house back. After refurbishing, the house was made available to Vince and Holly Faludi and family.

Family Partners Gwen Phillipsen and Ted Jones presented special — and symbolic — gifts to the family, including: a broom — “to sweep away the evil”; bread — “so you will never go hungry”; honey – “representing the sweetness in life”; and coins — “to bring good fortune.”

After remarks from the family and the traditional presentation of a Bible to the family by Pastor Joe Cockrum, the family cut the ribbons across their entry and most everyone adjourned inside, some to escape the cold, others to partake of the sumptuous food offered by the family.

Vince and Holly Faludi have been married for 13 years and have two children, 12-year-old Daniel and nine-year-old Olivia.

They moved from Cannon Beach four years ago to Camp Davidson at Suttle Lake. After moves to Camp Sherman and Tollgate, they settled in their new home on Cedar Street.

Vince applauded Sisters Habitat for their support.

“They are great-hearted people,” he said.

“They donated furniture and drapes and, overall, helped us through the process.”
