News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters High School Concert Band and Choir combined to present the Pre-Spring Concert to an appreciative audience of several hundred last week in the high school performance hall.
Choir leader Tara MacSween led off the evening with six numbers by the Concert Choir; the final piece, “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit,” featured soloist Jacob Seal.
MacSween thanked the Sisters School Foundation for buying the robes, the risers, and the shells used by the choir.
Four soloists on their way to state competition showed the talent that won them state-qualifying positions at the recent Central Oregon competition.
Vocalists included Jacob Seal singing “Alma Del Core” by Caldara and Sarah Douglass with “I Shall Find For You Shells and Stars,” by Menotti.
Instrumentalist Caitlin Partridge, on the oboe, played “Movement from Six Metamorphoses after Ovid,” by Britten. Justin Veloso, percussionist, finished with “Mountain Man,” by Houllif.
The Concert Band finished the evening with three selections, including “The Vengeance,” by A. Waignein. Band Leader Jody Henderson described the number as, “Probably the most difficult piece I have prepared with any high school band.”
