Several people were badly hurt in a collision near the junction of Highways 20 and 22 on Wednesday, March 23.
According to Sisters Fire Marshal Dave Wheeler, ambulances from Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District and the Black Butte Ranch fire district responded to the crash.
Details were sketchy, but Oregon State Police reported that the crash involved a van and a sedan and occurred on Highway 22 near where Highway 20 joins the roadway.
The accident occurred in the late afternoon after two days of snowfall.
According to Wheeler, a Black Butte Ranch ambulance transported two patients and the the Sisters Ambulance transported three of the injured to Sisters Airport, where AirLife made two trips to take the victims to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, where they underwent emergency surgery.
Identities of the victims were not available
Wheeler said they suffered internal injuries and “a lot of broken bones.”
A second accident occurred on Thursday, March 24, when two cars apparently sideswiped each other on Highway 20 at Milepost 80. Wheeler said one person suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Charles via ambulance.
