Sisters FAN offers parenting class

Sisters Family Access Network (FAN) will host a five-week spring parenting class series titled, “Guiding Good Choices.”

The class will be held on Tuesdays, April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sisters Elementary School library.

Classes will be taught by Gary Matlick of Bend. Matlick is a drug and alcohol counselor who has worked with adolescent treatment programs for 17 years and is an alcohol and drug evaluation specialist for the courts in Deschutes and Jefferson Counties.

Matlick will cover information on how to prevent drug use in your family; how to set guidelines and develop healthy beliefs and clear standards; avoiding trouble; how to say “no” to drugs; how to manage and control conflict and how to strengthen family bonds and increase children’s involvement in the family.

Class fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple. Scholarships are available. A light supper will be served each evening and free child care will be available during classes at Sisters Elementary School. “Guiding Good Choices” is targeted for parents with children in grades four through eight, but not limited to this age group.

To register or for more information call the FAN office at 549-0155.
