News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws took a bruising 8-1 loss to Cascade on Monday, April 11, and then suffered a 15-4 drubbing at the hands of the Stayton Eagles just one day later.
Sammy Stoneback pitched the first five innings in Monday’s game against Cascade. Michaela Bennett pitched scoreless sixth and seventh innings to close the game.
Sisters’ lone run came in the first inning. Becky Bremer hit a straightaway double to center field and Cortney Peters followed with a base hit to knock her in.
The Outlaws held a 1-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
In the top of the fourth the Cougars scored five runs and added three more runs in the fifth.
Bremer, Peters and Cindy Harp were the only players that got hits in the game.
Coach Doug McDonald told The Nugget the loss was a combination of Cascade hits and Outlaw errors.
In Tuesday’s loss to Stayton all four of Sisters’ runs came in the bottom of the third inning. Stayton finished the game with a 15-4 win.
Crystal Jewell led the Outlaws with two hits and two RBI. Hughes, Bremer, Stoneback, Harp and Pederson each had a base hit.
“We had the lead and then just gave it away,” said McDonald. “We need to make better decisions throwing the ball.”
On Thursday, April 14 the Lady Outlaws lost 12-0 in just five innings to Sweet Home.
McDonald said, “We’re still a young team, but we’re doing a lot of good things. I like the attitude and character of our team and despite some of these tough losses we’re getting better.”
