News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws won both of their Capital Conference matches last week to stretch their winning streak to 4-0.
On Monday, April 11 Sisters defeated Cascade at home 5-2.
The doubles teams had a strong performance and swept all of their matches. Elyss Clasen and Claire Rerat (No. 1) won their match 6-4, 5-7, 7-6. The No. 2 doubles team Jill Zepeda and Amanda Sarles won in two sets 6-1,6-1.
Assistant Coach Marti Dale said, “Jill and Amanda normally play the No. 3 doubles position but today they had to play at No. 2. They stepped up their game, dominated the match and won in just two sets.”
Heather Schaab and Maren Burck (No. 3) also won in two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
“This was the first match that Heather and Maren have played as a doubles team,” said Dale. “They dominated and were just awesome.”
Kyra Weber and Stephanie Napier (No.4) won their match 6-3, 6-1.
Just one day later Sisters beat the Stayton Eagles 6-1.
The singles players all notched decisive two-set wins.
Marigrace Marshall (No. 1) won 6-1, 6-1. Brianna Wellman (No. 2) won 6-1, 6-0 and No. 3 Jaci Armstrong won 6-2, 5-3. Adrienne Bryan (No. 4) clinched her match at 6-0, 6-1.
The No. 1 duo of Clasen and Rerat continued their winning streak, taking their match in just two sets 6-3, 6-4.
Schaab and Burck shut out their opponents in two sets 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Brook Goins and Tori Miller (No. 4) won 6-2, 6-4.
“This was the first time they’d (Brook and Tori) played together and their first varsity match,” said Dale. “They showed a lot of confidence and gained a lot of experience playing that match.”
Dale said, “We have a lot of depth on our team. Our girls are looking strong and our team is dominating the league. Now we need to prepare for the next level of competition which we’ll see at District on May 12 -13.”
