The boys golf team took first place at the Capital Conference golf match at Mallard Creek Golf Course in Sweet Home on Tuesday, April 19.
The team finished with a score of 331, six strokes ahead of runner-up Molalla. Stayton took third (339), Sweet Home fourth (359), Cascade fifth (375) and North Marion finished with 386.
Scott Barton took medalist honors with a two under par 70. Scott Little carded an 81 and Richard Aimee an 86. Miles Johnston finished with a 94 and Evan Mitchell a 97.
Aimee surprised everyone with his first ever eagle on the par four 11th hole and Barton recorded an eagle on the par four second hole.
“The golf course was full of water everywhere,” said Coach Jeff Barton. “But, the boys played well. We’re getting better every match and we’re gaining confidence.”
Three days later the Outlaws were at the par 65 Prineville Country Club for the first leg of the Central Oregon Classic. Sisters finished sixth out of eight teams with a score of 335.
First place went to Bend High (301), Summit finished second (303) and Redmond third (306).
Scott Barton led the Outlaws with a 77. Scott Little carded an 83, Richard Aimee an 86 and Evan Mitchell an 89. Rounding out the scoring for Sisters was Miles Johnston with a 94.
Coach Jeff Barton said, “It was the most ridiculous golf course we’ve ever played because of the way the greens were set up and the pin placements. The pins were set in places where kids just couldn’t get at them and that’s why the scores were so high. Everybody had a hard time with the pins....
“The scores were the highest I’ve ever seen.”
