Bluegrass aces will perform in Sisters

John Reischman and the Jaybirds will roll into Sisters from Vancouver, British Columbia for a night of exceptional bluegrass music on Friday, May 13, at the Sisters High School auditorium.

The concert is presented by the Sisters Folk Festival.

Four years of touring across North America and Europe, three critically-acclaimed albums and a Canadian Juno nomination have established John Reischman and the Jaybirds as one of the top-flight bands in bluegrass music.

In addition to Reischman, the Jaybirds include highly regarded veterans Jim Nunally on guitar and vocals, Trisha Gagnon on bass and vocals, Nick Hornbuckle on banjo and Greg Spatz on fiddle.

“Though Reischman is the leader and front man, he gives each of them plenty of room to shine and together they produce music that is seamlessly excellent and rewarding. This is a really good band,” Sing Out! magazine said in its fall 2004 edition.

Tickets are on sale now: $15 adult, $10 student available in Sisters at Angeline’s Bakery and Café, Paulina Springs Books, Sisters High School Media Center and at Boomtown and Music Makers in Bend.

Bend’s Moon Mountain Ramblers will open the show. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.
