Ellen Delore Kelleher (Dedo), 79, died on April 27, after a seven-year battle with cancer.
She was born on September 13, 1925, to Earl and Olga Patterson in Akron, Ohio. She attended Akron University and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. During World War II, she and her sister, along with 11 cousins, ran a newspaper out of her home for the men overseas.
She graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City and married William F. Kelleher in 1945.
Her husband, sister Marcella Fleming and her parents preceded her in death.
Her family stated that Delore will be missed by her loving family and many friends. They note that “she was a gentle, spiritual lady who lived her life with dignity and grace and was a tremendous steward of the Gospel to many. Along with a great sense of humor, a smile for everyone and an ever-present willingness to help others, was her deep love and loyalty to her family and friends.”
The family said she received the most joy from her 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her brother Richard (and Linda) Patterson; son Jack (and Julie) Kelleher (and their children Jackson, Kaleb, Josh and Aubrey; Bill (and Diana) Kelleher (children Whitney and Dierdra); niece Ali (and Don) Mayea (children Hayden and Libby) — all of Sisters. Daughters Linda (and Bill) Thomas, Laurie (and Bill) Willis, six more grandchildren and three great grandchildren in Akron, Ohio.
The Sisters families and friends will celebrate her life on Thursday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pines in Camp Sherman, followed by a gathering at the Camp Sherman Community Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio, 44333.
