News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Outlaws recorded their best team golf score of the season by 14 strokes (309) to finish third in the second leg of the Central Oregon Classic which was held at Eagle Ridge on Friday, April 29.
Leading the Outlaws was Scott Barton who shot an amazing six-under par 66 and was the medalist for the day.
“This was one of his best competitive rounds ever,” said Coach Jeff Barton, “and included four birdies and an eagle on the 18th hole. He shot all birdies and eagles, no bogies at all.
“He kept his mistakes to a minimum.”
Barton said, “the big story of the day was my number-five guy, Miles Johnston,” said Barton. Miles had three birdies on the front nine to finish with a 36 and on the back had a solid 39. He finished with a 75 which is his best competitive round by 13 strokes.
“It’s huge to improve your score that much. That just doesn’t happen in this game. It’s very unusual.”
Scott Little and Richard Aime both carded 84s and Evan Mitchell finished with 86.
“Everybody played well,” said Barton. “We’re improving every time we step on the golf course.”
Redmond finished first in team scoring (301), Bend second (304) and Mt. View fourth (326). Madras had 347 and La Pine finished with a 363.
